POLLOCK, Elaine Louise (nee Defoe)
August 16, 1953 – February 16, 2015
Elaine was born in Barrie, Ontario and died peacefully at VGH after a hard fought battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents Garth and Trudy Defoe, she is survived by her husband of 24 years, Bruce, daughter Kyla and son-in-law Max as well as her brothers, Terry (Kathleen) of Regina, Glenn of New Westminster, Grant of Surrey, Kevin (Hilda) of Phoenix, and many nieces and nephews. Elaine was a teacher, taking courses at Camrose Lutheran College and completing her B. Ed at UBC. She taught at Bob Berwick and Acadia Park preschools. Elaine met her husband Bruce in Richmond in 1981 and they were married in Vancouver on August 25, 1990 and moved to Dawson Creek. She taught at Northern Lights College in Dawson Creek. Kyla came into the family in 1993 and Elaine became a stay at home Mom. In 2001, the family relocated to Vancouver where Elaine continued to work with children and adolescents and her work was very highly praised by all. In April of 2014, Elaine was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and underwent radiation treatment but the cancer spread and she had further treatment in October. Services will be held Saturday, February 21, at 2 p.m. at St. Augustine Anglican Church in Marpole, 8680 Hudson Street, Vancouver. Expressions of sympathy may be made by way of donations to the BC Cancer Agency and/or the Glen Eden School Society in Richmond, BC (a school for special needs children) www.gleneden.org/ Elaine will always be loved and missed by everyone who knew her.
