Mount Olive Sunday School Parent Connection

Mount Olive's Sunday School Parent Connection

A partnership between teachers and parents to educating our children and nourishing their spiritual growth!

Mount Olive Sunday School Parent Connection - Image 1“Elijah and the Prophets of Baal” served as the lesson focus for yesterday's Sunday School.  Together as a group, the children learned about when Elijah challenged the false prophets of Baal and Asherah to call upon their "god" to set fire to their sacrifice.  In the Sunday School, we had 2 alters built to re-enact the story with Elijah, King Ahab, and the people of Isreal.   In our individual class lessons, we discussed the similarities between what occurred on Mount Carmel and what later occurred at the death of Jesus Christ on Mount Calvary.  Just as the true God revealed Himself on Mount Carmel’s altar, so on the cross-shaped altar of Mount Calvary, Jesus revealed once and for all that He alone is the real God who loves us enough to die for us.
Parents could ask, “How did God demonstrate His power on Mount Carmel? How does God reveal Himself to us?” Ask the children to tell this story, including how many prophets of Baal and Asherah were present!
A big thank you to the LWML women for giving the children "Plan of Salvation" bookmarks, pencils and erasers!
