Sunday School Parent Connection: Apr 27 - The Empty Tomb

Mount Olive's Sunday School Parent Connection
A partnership between teachers and parents to educating our children and nourishing their spiritual growth!

THE EMPTY TOMB

On the first Easter, Jesus reveals to Mary Magdalene and to His disciples that He is alive (John  20:1–18).  In Sunday School today the children learned how Jesus comes to us in His Word, so that the Spirit can give us faith to believe in Christ’s resurrection and comfort us when we mourn the death of loved ones.  Talk with your children about how Christ has reconciled us to God and thus gives us eternal life.  Review the third article of the Apostles’ Creed and Luther’s Explanation to it as you talk about how the Holy Spirit works faith in our hearts.

Pastor Ted joined our Grade 3/4 class, discussing the Easter story and singing hymns together with the children.  The Nursery & Kindergarten children also enjoyed learning the Parable of the Wise and Foolish Builders (Matthew 7: 24-27 and Luke 6: 46-49), while the older children played Bible Scrabble using vocabulary from the Easter story as we discussed the meaning of each word and recalled it's significance.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
  • Bible Presentation next Sunday, May 4th - for children in Grade 4 during the Children's Message.  Every year, the church presents each child in Grade 4 with the gift of a Bible.  Parents have been notified if their child will be receiving a Bible on this day.  If there are any questions, please let me know.
Have a great week!
